Reducing our footprint on the environment
The environment is the responsibility of every member of the community, but for those of us in the printing industry, the responsibilities are even greater as our capacity to harm or protect the planet is so much larger than any individual.
At Bowdens, we see environmental management as a benefit not an impediment to our business. To us, the business case is overwhelmingly in favour of creating a sustainable industry that is relevant and meaningful for future generations. As a family business, we have an enormous vested interest in securing the future for the generations to come.
Environmental management also makes good financial sense. Reducing energy consumption, managing material usage and waste, eliminating chemical usage and recycling all mean reduced costs and higher profits, therefore sustainability.
And of course there is the issue of public reputation. Society’s expectations of business have increased significantly in recent years, particularly in response to how we manage the environment. The more proactive we are at ‘Greening’ our business the stronger the reputation we create as a good corporate citizen.
